Intro to Ashtanga

The Intro to Ashtanga class provides a strong foundation for the practice of Ashtanga yoga for anyone wishing to join the more advanced Short Form and Primary Series classes, or develop their own home practice (called Mysore practice). As taught in the Sri K. Pattabhi Jois lineage, in this class we will learn the proper techniques for sun salutations, standing and seated poses, as well as inversions and closing poses. To cultivate a deeper internal awareness, emphasis will be placed on the importance of the breath to link each movement to the next and the use of bandhas (internal locks) to support the poses and develop an overall balanced and graceful practice. Posture modifications will be offerred to make advanced poses more approachable.

This is a great class for beginners looking for an active practice.
