Beryl Bender Birch Joins Us for a Two Day Workshop
Friday, May 13th 6:00-9:00pm
Bandhas, Breath and Drishti
Learn to use the three techniques of bandhas, breath, and drishti to catapult your own
practice beyond asana to the outer edges of your spiritual potential. These three aspects of yoga
practice are not just incidental additions to asana, they are profound and powerful aids to the
development of mindfulness, and designed to bring the attention into focus in the here and now. That alone
is where we find lasting Joy and the true experience of yoga. Then alone can we call our practice
(abhaysa), practice! Beryl's teachings of this brilliant methodology bring together like-minded souls
on the journey from self centeredness and simple survival to the enlightened yoga experience of connectedness
with all things. Mostly asana (vinyasa style) with some discussion.
Saturday, May 14th 9:00am-12:00pm
From Sweat to Samadhi: The miracle of the astanga yoga methodology!
The true experience of yoga is the experience of Samadhi, or the True Self and it comes out of the
simple but constant effort to pay attention. This is the secret yoga code: get your attention in present
time and the future will take care of itself. This is what we learn to do in our asana practice, in
pranayama, in meditation, and in every moment of our lives - we work to pay attention and be present.
This is what Beryl calls "doing the work". This makes your yoga practice a 24/7 activity and it is this
effort that begins to expand our awareness and initiate our transformation. We must transform ourselves
- the planet, our communities, our species, all species, need our best effort! Includes asana practice,
short meditation and discussion.
Saturday, May 14th 1:30-4:30pm
I am Alive. I Have a Precious Human Life. I Will Not Waste This Day.
Good morning. I am awake!! Get grounded and centered with conscious breathing (pranayama) and gratitude
for awakening. Briefly explore the philosophy of classical yoga and look at the role played by asana
and pranayama in the evolution of our consciousness. How do we grow? Get better at our yoga? We pay
attention, that's all. Regular, 24/7 effort, to keep the mind steady (abhyasa, or "practice"), takes
us along the path of ever more subtle and expanded levels of awareness. We see more clearly. All levels,
pranayama and discussion.
Beryl Bender Birch, author of Power Yoga, was the Wellness Director of the New York Road Runners from 1980 to 2002 and the only

and developing teacher training programs. Her school, The Hard & The Soft Yoga Institiute, offers Yoga Alliance recognized national
200/500/1000 hour certification for yoga teachers.

Binding Pose Master Class for Teachers
with Sara Intonato
Many ancient practices involve binding poses to build strength as well as openness. These poses are often misunderstood by all levels of
practitioners. Sara Intonato, E-RYT 500, will explore every element of these poses during class, especially those that are typically overlooked.
When approached properly, binding asana can improve balance, cleanse and relax the nervous system, strengthen the bandhas, awaken the spine, chest,
and many "hidden" spots. We will also explore the mental approach of non attachment and how binding poses are difficult to achieve without this.
Join us for this fabulous class and experience how increased mindfulness can prevent "over-doing it" while still allowing one to deepen his or her
practice. Don't miss this opportunity to be a more conscious yoga practitioner as well as acquiring knowledge to use in your own classes.

SPECIAL EVENT: Gallery Readings
with Medium Anthony Oliveto and Psychic Karin Marcello
Please join us this Saturday, March 27th from 6:00 to 8:00pm, when Karin Marcello, a fourth generation psychic, medium, and
healer, will be holding a very special gallery reading along with Anthony Oliveto, a highly gifted medium who specializes
in contacting people on the other side. Both psychic practitioners have been gifted since birth. For those in attendance
Karin will use Tarot cards, clairvoyance, and clairaudience to receive messages, while Anthony will receive messages
directly from spirits on the other side, as well as pinpointing specific names of those living and deceased. This gallery
reading will offer specific spiritual messages to some of the guests who are intuitively selected in the session.
Karin is a fourth generation Psychic and Reiki practitioner as well as an award winning Master of Humanities. She has been
interviewed by News 12, A&E, and the WE Networks, and featured in articles by Newsday, Ins & Outs Magazine and other local
papers. Intuition and psychic dreams have always provided guidance for herself and others and predicted would be events such
as the presidential election ballot fiasco of 2000 and psychic dreams about 9/11 twenty years prior to the event. Karin is
descendant from a line of healers and psychics. Her great grandmother was a devout faith healer in a village in Italy. Her
uncles were profound automatic writers and well known authors of their time. Karin is grateful to have this family gift. She
consistently refines her abilities through teaching and attending advanced psychic development courses, seminars, and healings
both nationally and internationally.
Anthony has been hearing "the dead" since he was a young child. Like most people with such a gift, at first he did not
understand it and believed something was wrong with him. He tried to suppress it for quite a while, until his grandmother
passed away and he found that his abilities became much stronger. Anthony began to realize these feelings were actually souls
reaching out to him, looking for help and telling him he must not suppress his ability to reach out to them any longer. He
came to understand and appreciate his gift, wanting to help these souls find the peace they are seeking in their eternal life.
In doing this it became apparent he also gave peace and comfort to people still here in this life. Anthony wants to share with
people what he says the souls wants us to know: "that we never truly die...their earthly bodies are gone, but they are always
with us and see what is going on in our daily lives." Through speaking to people who've lost loved ones, Anthony is continuing
to learn and strengthen his gift. His goal is to go "above and beyond" in counseling -- to help those of us here who still
grieve in loss, to bring us peace, and help us heal emptiness we feel in are hearts.

Without a broader understanding of the philosophical cornerstones of yoga, the deep and profound practice of yoga dead-ends at
downward facing dog. The quintessential yoga text, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, is a practical manual for living life to

Learn pearls of wisdom from the first and second chapters of this ancient text, including pre-requisites of yoga, the
definition of yoga, the results of yoga, the means to reach a state of yoga, the obstacles we'll encounter on this path,
and some solutions to pacify a disturbed mind.

Understanding Yoga: Moving from Gross to Subtle
A Three-Part Series with Danielle Tarantola
While most of us are introduced to yoga through the practice of postures, if it stops there, it's not yoga at all.
The power of yoga lies in its ability to meet us where we are and gradually lead us to deeper levels of stability
and ease - not just in class - but as we move through life. In this three-part series of workshops, you will learn
how yoga can realistically serve this ultimate purpose in your own life.
Part One - The Path of Yoga
Saturday, February 27th from 1:15 to 4:15pm
Why did you initially come to yoga? Are those things you were trying to accomplish coming into fruition? Are you
becoming happier, healthier, calmer, clearer - not just for a few minutes, but beyond your group class and in your
life? So that it works, we should understand vital, theoretical concepts as we begin to spend more time and energy
on the practice of yoga. The workshop, based on the text Yoga Sutras, will:
- clarify the term 'yoga'
- elucidate the means to reach a state of yoga
- put forth a timeline of yoga practices appropriate for different stages of life
- introduce the ashtanga yoga of patanjali, a process of external and internal purification
- give you a chance to experience more tools than just asanas, like pranayama, chanting, and visualization, within a practice
Part Two - Subtle Body Revealed
Saturday, March 20th from 1:15 to 4:15pm
Perhaps we are so accustomed to Western concepts of the physical that we haven't even considered another perspective
on how and why yoga works. Is there anything much to this practice beyond stretching and strengthening, and taking a
designated hour of 'me time?' In this workshop, you will begin to:
- explore a model of human anatomy which operates on a more subtle level than physical
- delve into the concept of prana
- discover why breath is so important
- acquaint with the concepts cakras, kundalini, and related topics
- understand how asanas are actually formulated around particular functions, rather than perfection of form
- practically experience 'simple' practices which have profound results
Part Three - Meditation and Transformation
Saturday, April 24th from 1:15 to 4:15pm
Meditation and yoga are not separate practices. They function to lead us, ideally, from confusion and distraction
to clarity and attention. In this workshop, you will:
- review the presentation of mind and its central position in yoga
- learn yoga's presentation of meditation understand the premise of the mind over body approach
- discover the pre-requisites for meditation
- experience a practice which incorporates subtle, transformative tools

Gentle Yoga & Reflexology
with Theresa Moje and Dana Mott
Treat yourself to the healing benefits of Yoga & Reflexology
This class will consist of two hours of Gentle Yoga with half-hour sessions of Reflexology.
We will begin with gentle yoga stretches, warming and stretching the muscles of the body. As the body begins to open, we
integrate soothing, relaxing poses, giving us an opportunity to linger quietly and savor the sweetness within the pose.
Reflexology is a healing therapy that applies gentle pressure to the feet. It is a technique based on the principle that
there are reflex points in the feet which correspond to every part of the body. Through massage and stimulation, nerve
endings are stimulated which aid in the healing of the body.
Reflexology treatments will be given every half-hour.

pure and creative, we allow the srishti to flow from deep within. This Rahini inspired flow is a complete yoga practice that focuses on
cleansing the Nadis and subtle energies of the body through a systematic sequence of movements, asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing)
bringing a higher state of awareness and clarity of mind.
The class will start at a slow pace working through preliminary root warm ups and certain pranayama techniques to release blockages within
the Nadi channels. At the completion of these essential root warm-ups, we will start to progressively build heat within the body through
constant, dynamic movements to prepare the body for Surya Namaskar and the many variations that are available through creative expression
and expansion (Srishti). Clarity of mind can and will be achieved to aid during the most challenging asanas in static form. Intensity builds
slowly and continuously bringing about a heightened state of awareness. The class will organically flow to bring us back down to our mat in
preparation for silent seated reflection and absorption.
Throughout the practice we will incorporate several Pranayama techniques, Hasta Mudras and Y.A.S.A. (Yoga and Self-Accupuncture). Savasana
will be approximately 20-25 minutes long and refresh your sense of being while being soothed by the beautiful sounds of Live Tibetan Singing
Bowls.

creating many beneficial effects, including relaxation and rejuvenation, as well as feelings of peace and well-being.

followed with individual Reiki treatments at the end of the Meditation.
This special Reiki Circle event will be offered by Karin, a Reiki Master and fourth generation Psychic, as well as an award winning Master of Humanities.
She has been interviewed by News 12, A & E and the WE networks, and featured in articles by Newsday, Ins & Outs Magazine and other local papers.
