Jackie’s yoga practice, which began in 2005, took her to south India in 2008 to study classical Hatha yoga for five months. In 2009, she earned her 200-hour certification with Yoga Teachers Training Institute and in 2011, Jackie completed her 500-hour teacher training with Yoga Teachers Training Institute. In 2012, she studied over 150 hours with Kino MacGregor and Tim Feldmann learning the Ashtanga Yoga tradition and has accrued dozens more hours of training under Gabriel Halpern of the Iyengar Yoga tradition. The experienced teachers and rich lineages that have influenced Jackie’s practice can be seen, heard, and felt in her teachings and she uses her knowledge and wisdom to develop intelligent sequences that have the capacity to treat pain, discomfort or imbalance in the body, prescribing specific work to each individual that they may find harmony, clarity and ease in their yoga practice and in life.
Jackie is also trained to teach prenatal yoga and is pursuing her doula certification through DONA International, with the desire to support and assist women during labor and birth, integrating the practices and principles of yoga (physical, mental, spiritual) to facilitate a more positive birthing experience. Prenatal yoga classes are aimed at providing relief from any discomforts that have come with the childbearing year and preparing oneself with tools for labor, birth, and parenting. Classes may also provide the opportunity for the mother-to-be to connect with other expecting women and fortify the connection to baby and the experience of pregnancy.
